Mary-Anne Hodd

Associate Lived Experience Trainer & Consultant

Mary-Anne brings a unique and powerful perspective to the team at Lighthouse, shaped by her own experience growing up in foster care and strengthened by her background in psychology and education. Her work combines lived insight with professional understanding to support child-centered, trauma-informed practice across children’s services.

Through her training and consultancy, Mary-Anne helps professionals reflect deeply on the impact of language, relationships, transitions, and recording practices in the lives of care-experienced young people. She creates learning spaces that are honest, reflective, and grounded in compassion, encouraging teams to connect more meaningfully with the children they support.

Mary-Anne’s approach is relational, thoughtful, and rooted in a belief that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved. She works alongside teams to embed therapeutic, strengths-based practices that not only support children but also foster emotionally intelligent, resilient services.

At Lighthouse, Mary-Anne plays a vital role in bridging lived experience with professional practice, offering insight, inspiration, and practical strategies that help transform services and create environments where both children and practitioners can thrive.
