Nicola Prestage

Film maker and specialist facilitator

Nicola brings a unique blend of creativity, compassion, and technical skill to her role at Lighthouse. As an award-nominated filmmaker and experienced workshop facilitator, she has spent over a decade using storytelling as a tool for connection, empowerment, and change.

With a strong background in both professional media and community-based projects, Nicola has worked with leading brands such as L’Oréal, eBay, and The National Trust, while also dedicating much of her practice to supporting vulnerable and marginalised groups. Her work spans schools, secure children’s homes, mental health services, and alternative education settings — always with the same goal: to help people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Nicola’s workshops go far beyond technical filmmaking; they are safe, creative spaces where participants build confidence, develop their voice, and often share their stories for the very first time. Her calm, intuitive approach and deep respect for lived experience allow her to connect meaningfully with the people she supports, bringing out honest, emotionally resonant work that leaves a lasting impact.

At Lighthouse, Nicola leads on creative engagement and digital storytelling, helping providers harness the power of film to elevate children's and young peoples voices to capture authentic experiences, and build inclusive, healing-centered environments. Her work is rooted in the belief that every story matters, and when told with care and authenticity, stories can transform not just individuals, but entire communities.
